Jim Grant - Storyteller![]() Jim Grant is a storyteller working in environmental education and interpretation, after many years as primary school teacher in inner city schools and nature parks. Jim now provides living history and story experiences which heighten our awareness of the natural world and our dependence upon the natural environment. Jim has been telling stories for over 20 years to all ages indoors and out, in schools,Castles and Hostels, National Trust grounds, English Heritage sites, Museums, libraries, Wildlife Trust reserves, Northumberland countryside and at Visitor Centres - even on the other side of the world! Jim is also involved with Deja Crew, a group of education specialists, and Northern Education for Sustainability (NEST). Northumberland's rich history and traditions, together with human life and all its dramas, are the source of many entertaining stories, both short and long. The Border Reivers and the Northern saints are two popular themes for example. Jim plays the Northumbrian Pipes, and is happy to play and talk about this very special instrument for those who are new to our Northumbrian traditional music and its history. He also leads ceilidhs for the north-east band The Whistling Sheep. |
